Process

FROM CONCEPT TO ILLUMINATION

How we experience light can only be described with the factor of time and feeling. We all relate to lighting every day and have emotions tied to the color, brightness, direction and movement of light. These subtle ingredients craft our visual perception of a space into an emotion.

Lighting and lighting control systems can benefit from an advocate that understands the conceptual intent, performance goals, and challenges in the process, and can communicate effectively to ensure that the owner receives value at the end of the day for their beautiful new spaces.

Dynamic Lighting Design

01. Concept + Emotion

No matter the project we start every design with a survey to understand the use of the space. Who are the users? What is the feeling of each space? All humans who will interact in the space will be unique, so we approach every project with fresh eyes (and mood board) with these people in mind.

03. Documentation

We keep in mind that lighting is a function of time, so every project needs a daily plan to meet the human needs and energy saving needs. Our documentation is thorough to include architectural details, specifications, controls equipment design, and sequencing, so everyone on the team moves forward together.

02. Translation

Next, we take emotions from the language of feelings into a more colloquial, visual language. We take those emotions and translate them into visual representations, sketches, and precedent images.

04. Construction

Our support doesn’t end with design; we’re in it with you the whole way. We can assist with pricing evaluation and submittal review, site visits and field reports, coordination support between trades, aiming and final on site adjustments, and setting clearly communicated objectives for the lighting control programmer.

The lighting industry is complicated.

From design to bidding and manufacturing to installation, there are plenty of opportunities for miscommunication and interpretation. Our process aims to simplify that — fostering connection, communication and sustainable, high-quality lighting solutions.
