Project: This thoughtfully crafted home in Raleigh, North Carolina was designed for a pair of architects with a deep appreciation for form and detail. When we joined the project, the reflected ceiling plan featured a grid of downlights that didn’t complement the striking geometry of the home’s butterfly roof.
Our design goal was to highlight the lofted living, kitchen, and dining spaces without relying on traditional downlighting. Instead, we introduced continuous runs of indirect performance lighting that span the full length of the space, harmonizing with the abundant natural light from the clerestory windows.
Because the homeowners love to entertain—both during the day and well into the evening—the lighting system is fully tunable white. This allows the atmosphere to shift effortlessly with the outdoor color temperature, supporting everything from bright, active gatherings to warm, relaxed evenings.
